The richly illustrated exhibition catalogue presents unique silk garments and accessories of the Liao-dynasty (907–1125). Questions regarding the coherence of the group of garments, their manner of wear and the person for whom they were originally intended are addressed. A separate chapter is devoted to the extensive conservation work and the insights gained from it. The significance of textiles of Liao culture and the present state of research are discussed in individual essays.
